Pool day

This week the kaupeka hub went to walthem pool. The weather was alright it was really cloudy a Gray  day but it was kinda muggy and warm with no wind so you wouldn't freeze when you get out and get dried. We hoped into the pool then played water polo for most of the time. After that we all got out for a break to dry off. Then our opportunity came to go onto the hydro slide. We all got our wrist band and ran up the stairs. We went down the slide it was kinda fast but it was short. Then our teacher went down the water slide it was really cool. After that we got dried and headed off back to school while having a really good day swimming.

Poem

This week in our writing workshop I made a Poem. I made a Haiku poem about a rugby game. It will just tell you about how I prepared for a really big rugby game that's happening. Here it is.

 I wake up today

 I walk downstairs like a bear 

 Ready for the game

 I eat my breakfast

 ready for the game today

 I hop in the car

 biting my fingers

 nervourse like never before

 We get to the park

 with the frosty grass

 I walk over to the team

 we stretch for the game

nervourse as can be 

 we walk over to the field

 and than we kick off

This week the Kaupeka hub went to the back field to do lots of these activities. We lined up in our groups to start our activities. We started at a puzzle game where you remember where you walked then you must get to the end. We keped going on with the activities until the water activities. The first one is where you have to tip water buckets behind you and the person behind you has to catch it. Then you must keep going until you get the water to this bucket at the back. The last water activity is where there is a pipe with holes in it and you must cover the holes with your finger. While some people are getting water to fill the pipe to the top. The goal is to get the pipe as high with water as you can before the timer goes out.

Tough kids

On Wednesday 3 quarters of the school went to tough kids. We all went on the bus down by new Brighton. We went into our line and we ran. The run was 2.7 k I think it was around that. There was some average obstacles but when the water obstacles came we all jumped int the water. After that we ran onto this really slippery water slide where we ran as fast as we can onto it. Then right before the end there was a bouncy castle that had a really big line but we waited. Once we got in there was a lot of people on it and people were falling over but we made it out and reached the end. Everyone was really wet so we got changed and waited in line to go back to school and work for the rest of the day.

Afternoon sport

Every Thursday from 1 to 3 the Kaupeka hub go out to play 4 sports. Someday you only play one sport. And on other days you play only 2 and no more. The first week we played korfball that is a sport where its like netball but you can only defend the same gender and other things like that. Then we have cricket. What you do is just have an over to bat then and over to bowl then you field for the rest of the game. Then there is lawn bowls and soft ball. Soft ball is where you hit the ball and the rest of the group is trying to catch the ball. And I haven't done lawn bowls yet.

Attitude

This week the whole kaupeka hub went into the hall to talk about puberty. The first session is where we talk about the physical part of puberty then the emotional part of the body. In the second session the girls and boys split off and talked about what happens to the body. It was sometimes awkward but the guy that was talking to us made it pretty fun for us.

The amp show

This week we had Friday off because our family went to the amp show. The amp show is where heaps of people gather together and get drinks go o rides check out things like furniture, wood work and much more. I met up with Flynn and Reuben to go and look at the dirt bikes then get these really big snow cones. After that they left then I went to the rides with my family. We went on this really cool ride where you go upside down. Then we started to head off so we went to the barns where there are lots of animals like sheep, cows, goats and much more. Then we left with lots of joy and happiness.

Recipe task

This week we made a recipe about our country. I got Scotland where I made one of their famous desserts Shortbread. Shortbread is a really nice dessert in Scotland that is a pastry type that will disintegrate into your mouth. I will show you a link about how to make it and what to get to make a really nice dessert from Scotland.

School camp

Hello for the whole week of week 3 term 4 our whole hub went to camp. It was really fun we did a whole lot of things like Archery, Coasteering, and much more. we stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days. 

A challenge on camp for me was getting to the top of the high ropes course because im not a fan of heights unless im in a proper building but I still was on the bottom ones but that was pretty fun. Specially the one where there were bois that you had to get past.

A fun thing on camp was coasteering because even tho there were high winds and it was cold we had lots of fun and we got to jump off a really cool rock.

Something that I learned at camp was how to belay because what we had to do is to pull lock grab and slide and you must do that every time the person that is climbing up. But in the end I got the hang of it and it was successful.

Something that I am grateful for all the food that was bring to the table and the shelter that we have and I loved having all the activity because we are jampacked with activitys

How to do a drop kick

Today I will be showing you how to do a drop kick with a rugby ball. Here are some step by strp instructions on how to drop kick a rugby ball. hopefully this will help you with kicking a ball over the posts or just kicking the ball down the field.

1. Grab a rugby ball 

2. Find a field about 100 m by 50 m

3. Hold the ball facing up

4. Have a little run up about 3 m 

5. Throw the ball up about 10 mm

6. Put your leg back ready to kick. 

7. Then when the ball hits the ground 

8. You kick it as hard as you can

PBL term 4

This term for our PBL driving question it is how can we celebrate ourselves.

We will be talking about our culture and where we came from. We will also be talking about where our ans esters came from and about our family being in the war. I'm not sure where my ancestors are from. We will be making an art piece and a music piece about who you are and what you enjoy like hobbies and much more. I will be making a rugby rap and for my art piece I will be making a rugby stadium with a rugby person kicking a ball over the post.

This week as you know for pbl me and my buddy have been making a futuristic building with a 3d printer. There was some issues with the printer and the building did int turn out the way we wanted it to be. But we are still happy to share it at the kaupeka expo.

Stanford student course.

This week we went and had to log on to a online student course. and there are six sets of lessons. they talked about what is so cool about maths. So first they talked about what people think about maths. Lot of people thought it was cool. Then they talk about how the brain grows when you learn maths twice a day. Then they did studies about people who want to do easy problems and people who want to do hard problems and found out that the people who did the hard problems had more chance of growing and succeeding.

Pbl planning template

This week me and mt pbl partner made a planning template about what our future building will look like. First we made some pictures and showed the teachers what it will look like. Then we decided that we will make the people in the building safe. So we are going to make it fire proof, water proof, and earthquake proof. And we are trying to make it futuristic but not to he point that people can not use the building due to how futuristic it is.
